Opinion: Necro or Ranger?
I am making another character for my account and dont know what is better for farming and missioning... Rangers I know are better than necromancers at UW, but necromancers can make a huge army and keep it alive with monk secondary... so I cannot decide what would be better for soloing underworld and all around farming and even missioning.
I seem to be leaning more for necromancer... but with the thought of solo UW with a ranger, its hard to decide, can I get some advice?

SS Necros are actually "better" for UW since there's only 2 people, whereas in a Ranger group there's anywhere from 4 to 6.
I deleted my Ranger on the final mission, since I:
*couldn't find a group that wanted me
*had not and was not, and would not have had fun playing as a Ranger
If you just want to feel cool and play with preperations or spam Barrage, then there you go. Rangers are essentially long range warriors, so you're not going to find much creativity in the builds. You'll either be a trapper, an interruptor, or you'll shout at your pet while you do basically nothing. Or you could just use ignite arrows and contemplate the usefulness of Dual Shot and Power Shot and Pentrating Shot or any of the other dozens of generic skills that just mean "do more damage."
Necros on the other hand do have a lot of combinations of skills that can do any number of things, but they're universally known as just being minion masters, probably out of ignorance. Recently "SS/SV"s have started to pop up, since people that do not play as a necro found out about a certain skill. Taint necros, Order necros. They're just a necro with one, maybe two skills. Discardable player slots demanded by other players that want accessory skills and not party members, not actual builds. Real necro builds would be siphon builds, minion masters of course, well tenders, corpse control, shadow saccers, etc.
Point being, depending on what you want to do, you may find Rangers more fun simply because you can just press a button and you'll do more damage. Or, you may find Necros more fun since there's a lot more to do.
I personally enjoy tearing warriors and rangers apart in PvP with a necro. Weaken them, remove their armor, degenerate their health, interrupt them. As far as PvP does go, if you move your PvE Ranger into PvP, you can be either a trapper for certain teams, or you can be an interruptor (about 75% of the builds in random arenas) or you can cart around spirits for other people. I'll play as a trapper sometimes since I find that fun, but only on my PvP slot. The Ranger quickly finds itself deleted after a few hours.
Bottom line in my recommendation is to think past the novelties and look at the lesser known skill lines.

just to clear up as far as im aware there is not a SOLO ranger UW build, but it can be done with 2 ranger trappers. but in the same case a monk necro 2 man can also do the UW so at the end of the day it all comes down to your own opinion as to what you perfer.
on a side not ranger gets an awsome pet (UW spider) that just rocks :P

I honestly prefer Rangers, but Necros are awesome, too. It's true that there's no UW solo build for a Ranger, and there is one for a Necro, but IIRC MF builds don't do nearly as well as Ranger Spike does. :P
Since you've made your desision already, I wish you luck with your new Necro. I love my Necro, hex spamming FTW.

I had a N/R and changed it to a N/Me cuase i never used the Ranger side and if I did it was for traping but I now do a thousand times more dmg with my N/Me build with all the shut down stuff and hexes N/Me is a much stronger build and great for spamming all kinds of dmg. a N/Me is good for just about anything so a I'm asking you to rethink your build so...
me out

Just depends on what you wanna do, I have a Ranger and a Necromancer, beacuse they both happen to my two of my favorite classes. It mainly depends on what you wanna do which you should choose.
